Franklin Township operates under the Council/Manager form of government. Established under the Faulkner Act, this
form of government consists of five ward council members and four at large council members elected in November
for four-year overlapping terms. The Council appoints a Manager who serves as chief executive and administrative
official for the Township. Each year, the council elects one of its own members to serve as mayor.
The Council establishes general policies that guide Township activities and enacts ordinances and resolutions by
which the Township functions. Council appoints the Township Clerk, and Magistrate and members of the various boards
and commisions. Administrative and career employees are appointed by the manager to provide services to the community. |
